Mexican gTLDs, .rest .bar .cafe

Press release: According to: Punto 2012, a Mexican based company has chosen to participate in ICANN’s new gTLD names program and create the first niche portfolio of domains that will serve the restaurant, bar and café industry and its consumers worldwide. “Restaurants, bars and cafés serve as places where people gather around the world to celebrate, to share, to make business and to discover new flavors and experiences. Their information should be easier to reach through the Internet”, says Aaron Grego, President of Punto 2012 and founder of QueremosComer.com, Mexico City´s most reliable and visited restaurant guide.

“We are privileged and overwhelmed with excitement to be able to participate in this revolutionary moment. We hope that our gTLDs become the new way restaurants, bars and cafes identify themselves on the Internet.”

Our thought is Mexican GTLD’s will become some of the most famous as internet names when Spanish names are applied for.  Once we see common Spanish internet names there will be a frenzy to snap up the names for Mexican internet businesses.  The true discovery comes with time and the idea of allowing other countries to cash in on the market as a whole.  Now then, perhaps Mexican internet names are something that will be slow in coming but once it takes off they will certainly gain traction.

“It´s the end of the web as we know it”, states Aaron Grego, “the way we name and identify things on the internet is about to change dramatically, and Punto 2012 is honored to undertake the responsibility this implies and to be part of this global adventure that will change the way we use the Internet in the years to come”.
